Description
Lupulus Hibernatus is a beer brewed with Pilsen-type malted barley and roasted barley. The hops used come exclusively from Slovenia. After boiling, the brewer adds a touch of cinnamon. It is this, combined with the flavour of the roasted barley, that gives Hibernatus its unique flavour.
Beneath a brown, almost black, colour, this Christmas Beer by the Les 3 Fourquets brewery reveals aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and dried fruit. It also offers a touch of yeast and delicate spices: first cinnamon, followed by notes of liquorice and cloves.
It is sweet on the tongue. There are flavours of honey, caramel, chestnut and chocolate, rounded out with spicy and herbaceous notes. Touches of malt and macerated fruit complete the picture.
Lupulus Hibernatus is a beer to be sipped slowly, beside a wood fire in the long winter evenings.
