Urthel Samaranth was brewed for the first time for the marriage of lady brewer Hildegard van Ostaden, or so the story goes. On that day, instead of serving wine as usual, the guests were offered a Special Ale. As the beer was a great success, it was decided to re-brew it regularly.
Visually, this amber beer presents a very impressive, very persistent head. The nose reminds us that this beer is Belgian, with powerful reminders of spice and notes of candied fruit and chocolate. The mouth feel is expansive and generous, calling to mind flavours of chocolate. The finish is dry, making this beer more accessible.
A beer for the true connoisseur! Both powerful and generous, this quadruple beer shares all the same characteristics of other Belgian beers of this type.
